My name is Simon Hale, and I will be a first year medical student at Texas Tech Health Science Center School of Medicine this fall. I am profoundly grateful to be a 2017 Outpost Scholarship winner, and I can't reiterate enough how meaningful these funds will be not only in helping pay for my tuition but also taking some of the financial stress out of my professional school experience. I have a passion for medicine that stems from my desire to make life changing impacts in the lives of others. In my spare time I enjoy playing golf and traveling the country to flyfish, although I am not sure I will have much time for either during medical school!

My name is Seamus Foley. First off, I want to acknowledge the generosity put forth by the Outpost Foundation to aid higher education for young men and women. Growing up in Newtown Square, PA surrounded by golf, I developed a true passion for the game. At a young age, I dreamed of pursuing a career within the golf course industry. Heading into my fall semester of my Senior year at The Pennsylvania State University, I plan on graduating in the spring of 2018 with a B.S. in Turfgrass Science. During the past two summers, I've interned on the grounds staff at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, PA. I've also had the pleasure of volunteering my time in tournament preparation for the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club and 2017 Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club. I will be traveling to Riviera Country Club for the 2017 U.S. Amateur Championship before I head back to Penn State to complete my education.
Brant Kummerfeld - Desert Forest
Brant is the first winner of the Outpost Foundation's PGA Scholarship, which will be awarded to a young golf professional to help with the cost of attaining their PGA certification.
My vision is to be known as the most trusted authority in the mental game of golf and to serve golfers through mental coaching, training and performance strategy. After playing four years of college golf and turning professional I had my fair share of success and struggle. It is through the struggle that I learned my most valuable lessons and grew the most as a person. Currently I serve as an Assistant Golf Professional at Desert Forest Golf Club in Carefree, AZ. I am blessed both where I work and also at home with my wife Miranda, daughter Isla (8) and son Isaiah (1).
