COVID-19 ERF APPLICATION
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you apply for direct crisis relief?
Individuals seeking direct assistance should go to the Outpost Foundation’s Emergency Relief Fund Application to submit their information and needs. Please note that the Outpost Foundation will evaluate each case based on the state of an applicant's emergency, prioritizing issues like medical needs.
Is the relief fund only for certain courses, clubs or states?
No. We are not limiting our funding to any courses, clubs or states. However, we do not have the capacity or legal apparatus to help golf workers outside of the United States.
Does the Outpost Foundation Emergency Relief Fund Application really need to ask so many questions?
Yes...
FOR LEGAL REASONS: In its publication “Disaster Relief: Providing Assistance Through Charitable Organizations,” the IRS, following the 9/11 tragedy, clarified and broadened the kinds of needs for which cash assistance may be given, “provided an objective evaluation has been made of the victims ability to meet these needs.” U.S. tax law indicates that public charities must have a legitimate system for verifying the financial “neediness” of applicants and that the funds are spent on immediate needs, which include medical emergencies, assistance with rent, and transportation. “Need can be address with cash assistance, or other need may be met through services such as counseling, training and job placement services, which are charitable without regard to financial need. The type of aid that is appropriate to relief distress in a particular case depends on the nature of the individual’s need and resources.”
FOR ETHICAL REASONS: With thousands of golf industry workers in crisis and with limited funds, we have an obligation to ensure that resources donated to and distributed through the Outpost Foundation go to those truly in dire need, and the only way to know that is to ask some specific questions. We know that some of the most vulnerable will find the application a bit daunting, but we encourage all in need to submit what information they can, so we can get in touch and ask more questions if necessary
How will the funds be distributed?
The Outpost Foundations Board of Directors has approved individual one-time grants in amounts up to $1,000 to those chosen by the Emergency Giving Committee. The funds will distributed as a check and sent via US Mail.
Application Verification and Award process:
Our Process: Each application will be verified by the Board of Directors or a sub-committee of the Board in concert with other volunteers as necessary. Once applications are verified, the application will be distributed to a separate Emergency Giving Committee. The application process is completely anonymous. Only members of the Emergency Giving Committee will see an application in its entirety. The committee will select the award recipients by evaluating the need of each applicant. Each award recipient will receive up to $1,000.
